She don't believe in shootin stars, She only believe in shoes and cars..

Elle Magazine (my fashion bible) featured some to die for summer platforms. I especially gasped over the nude and blush colors, love it!

Catch-22

Quote of the week from one of my favorite classics.

"The chaplain had mastered, in a moment of divine intuition, the handy technique of protective rationalization, and he was exhilarated by his discovery. It was miraculous. It was almost no trick at all, he saw, to turn vice into virtue and slander into truth, impotence into abstinence, arrogance into humility, plunder into philanthropy, thievery into honor, blasphemy into wisdom, brutality into patriotism, and sadism into justice. Anybody could do it; it required no brains at all. It merely required no character."
-Catch 22 by Joseph Heller

Sunshine Booklist

The weeks forecast looks promising, which means I might get all of you to read those books I buy and suggest to you all the time. Here's the list of favorite books as of late:

1. Life of Pi by Yann Martel (this book tops every list, it's hands down best book I've ever read. Absolutely profound and life changing, I'll buy you a copy)
2. Ishmael by Daniel Quinn (for the philosophical)
3. Aunt Julia and the Scriptwriter by Mario Vargas Llosa
4. The Book of Laughter and Forgetting by Milan Kundera (not very "summery", I'll admit)
5. Love Walked In by Marisa de los Santos (for the ladies)
6. Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell (for the intellectuals)
7. The Red Tent by Anita Diamant
8. Nine Stories by JD Salinger
9. When You Are Engulfed in Fames by David Sedaris

...I'm afraid I'm pulling a blank, will add more when I figure out exactly what I feel I am forgetting.

Green's not really my color

St. Patty's Day was yesterday so in the late evening, with work and school pressing the next morning, two of my roommates and I went to Arlington to brave the seas of green-clad, drunken adults. And how did we dress for the occassion? The girls bared shoulders in vibrant sundresses (doning every color except the coveted green) while I wore a skin-tight skirt and top along with 4 inch heels. To say we stuck out would be an understatement. But what's there to say? Style never takes a holiday.

Sunshine Soundtrack

As the weather reached the 60s today, I rolled down my windows and blasted a up beat soundtrack that matched the beating rays. Here's the run-down for Spring tunes.

Sleeplessness

It is another sleepless night.
What is my bed but a desk to study upon?

Life is Beautiful

Due to recent changes, my trajectory in life has shifted quite a bit and although it is a jarring experience I'm ready to take it on. The possibilities are endless so I'm preparing myself to meet the world.

Boredom Can be so Refreshing

Finished the last of my midterms today (except for one essay due in a week, but I like to live in the "now") and my plan for the rest of the day? Nothing. Absolutely nothing. And I'm going to love every second of it.

The Terms of Getting a Degree

Midterms week. Luckily, there are not many. But to make room in my brain for five Shakespeare plays and a 2 minute dance routine (guess which one is harder for me to remember), I've pushed a lot of things out. So if I run into you in the next 24 hours don't be offended if I can't remember your name.. or if we had plans.. or my own name, it'll come back to me. I hope.

Enough with the procrastination. Let me sink my thoughts back into the pages of these books and indulge in imagination.

Enviable Fashion

I'd like to think of myself as a simple girl who doesn't need a lot monetarily.  And then I see the Spring 2010 Ready-to-Wear collection and I become instantly materialistic.

Weak-end

I'll be pulling favors this week and finding out how much you all love me. On my first independent road trip to Richmond, about 10 miles outside the city, I found myself stuck on the side of 95 with a blackberry on low battery and a smoking engine. After many phone calls between me, my brother, my father, the VW dealership, my mother and then my father again, I got the tragic diagnostic. The car = donezo. Cannot even be sold to VW for scrap metal. It's just a very large, very expensive ornament. Though I appreciate the car that got me over my fear of driving and am impressed it even survived the blizzards, I have no remorse letting it go. It was a liability, not an asset. (I believe my exact words to the mechanic when he asked if I wanted to say goodbye to the car were "There's only one finger I'd like to give this car right now and it's not a thumbs up") I'm looking forward to a new car, preferably one that can get me from point A to point B without stopping at point C, the mechanic.
Till then, anyone want to give me a ride?
